Peace and Art Raped and Killed in Turkey: An Anniversary

By this month, two years ago, Pippa Bacca, PERFORMANCE ARTIST, should have been arriving in Israel. She should have been celebrating a peace tour through the Balkans and the Middle East where, in her wedding dress, she demonstrated the idea of cultures marrying one another as a form of living with respect and love for the other. She should have been having her final event in Tel Aviv, the artistic capital of Israel, the peace capital of the Middle East.

She never made it.

2 years and 2 months ago, Pippa, in her wedding dress, was in Turkey. She was, as she had been since Italy, hitchhiking through the country. She was raped and murdered.

Today, Artists 4 Israel celebrates her attempt for peace. We lament her loss. We are angry at Turkey for harming art, for raping peace.
